Tänään Dakarissa Bolivian (hallinnollisessa) pääkaupungissa La Pazissa on lepopäivä. Bolivia lienee maailman ainoa maa, jossa pääkaupunkejakin pitää olla kaksi? Se toinen pääkaupunki Sucre, kantaa lisänimeä ”nimellinen”. Sääennusteen mukaan ainakin vielä ensi yön sataa kunnolla, sen jälkeen sää pikkuhiljaa paranee mitä lähemmäksi Argentinaa siirrytään. Ainakaan tällä hetkellä olevan tiedon mukaan seuraava etappi eli erikoiskoe La Paz → Yuyni ajetaan huomenna.

Keskeyttäneistä ja alaluokista.

Bike -luokassa on lepopäivään mennessä keskeyttänyt 31 lähtijää. Matkaan luokassa lähti 168 kuljettajaa. Keskeyttäneistä voisi mainita Slovakian kokeneen Ivan Jakesin, Yamahan tehdaskuskin Alessandro Botturin (kaatuminen 4. ek:lla) ja viime vuoden voittajan Toby Pricen. Kiinalainen Zhongshen -tehdas lähti mukaan viidellä kuljettajalla ja varmaan muutama dollarikin oli palanut huoltoon yms. kuluihin. Viimeinenkin Zhongshen -kuljettaja eli Ranskan Thierry Bethys keskeytti 5. erikoiskokeen jälkeen. Bike -luokan alaluokista yksi on ns. Marathon -luokka, jota pidetään ns. Dakarin teräsmies -luokkana. Eli kuljettaja, huoltaa itse pyöränsä. Myös osien vaihto on tiukasti rajattu. Moottoria tai sen keskeisiä osia ei saa vaihtaa, runkoa ei saa vaihtaa, etuhaarukkaa ei saa vaihtaa, takahaarukkaa ei saa vaihtaa… Pyörän on lisäksi oltava vakio, kaupasta ostettava malli ja kuutiotilavuus on max. 450cc. Luokkaa johtaa Andorran Christian Munoz KTM WR450 -pyörällään. Eestin Husqvarna -kuljettajat Toomas Triisa ja Mart Meeru ovat Marathon -luokassa sijoilla viisi ja 11. Toomas on kärkeä perässä 1:10:19h ja Mart 2:46:32h.

ATV -luokassa matkaan lähti 39 kuskia, joista 12 on keskeyttänyt. Ehkä tunnetuin keskeyttäjistä on Bolivian Honda -kuski Walter Nosiglia. 4×4 -vetoiset mönkijät muodostavat oman alaluokkansa ATV:ssä. Mukana 4×4 -vetoisissa on vielä viisi kuljettajaa. Kaikilla ovat allaan Can-Am Renegadet. Luokkaa reilun kolmen tunnin erolla johtava Argentiinan Daniel Mazzucco on myös yleiskilpailussa erinomaisesti sijalla viisi. Olen hieman yllättäen paras ei-Yamaha. Ennakkokaavailuista poiketen Dakar -voittaja Puolan Rafal Sonik (Yamaha) on ollut alisuorittaja samoin argentiinalainen Daniel Domazewski Hondallaan.

Autoissa on mukana vielä 76 autokuntaa vajaa parikymmentä on jättänyt leikin kesken. Tunnetuimpia lienevät Xavier Pons (Ford Ranger), Nasser Al-Ayttiah (Toyota), Yazeed Al-Rajhi (Mini), Carlos Sainz (Peugeot), Emiliano Spatarro (Renault Duster), Roman Chabot (Buggy). Myös Liettuan Benediktas Vanagas (Overdrive Toyota) on keskeyttänyt. Toinen liettulaispari Antanas Juknevicius/Darius Vaicuilis on mukana ja ajaa sijalla 27. Täksi vuodeksi ATV -luokasta autoihin siirtynyt Quatarin Mohammed Abu-Issa ajaa sijalla 12, mikä on yllättävän hyvä sijoitus. Ex-WRC -kuski Tsekin Martin Prokop on sijalla 16. 3:26:16h kärjestä. Myöskin Hollannin Erik van Loonille on tämän vuoden seikkailu ollut vaikea. Yleensä Top-10:ssä viihtyvä Loon on sijalla 20. Loon on jäänyt kärjelle jo 4:20:19h.

Autoissa on mukana myös vakioautot -alaluokka eli kaupasta ostettava auto ilman modifiointeja. Luokkahan oli joskus Dakarin suurin, mutta nähtävästi reittien mennessä rankemmaksi on autojen määrä kokoajan pienentynyt. Vakioautot on jaettu vielä bensiini ja diesel -käyttöisiin, mutta koska molemmissa luokissa on yhteensä enää seitsemän autokuntaa mukana käsittelemme ne yhdessä. Kärjessä viisi ensimmäistä ovat Toyotan Land Cruisereita tarkemmin malli VDJ200. Kaukana kaukana perässä tulevat ainoat mukana olevat bensakäyttöisten luokan kaksi Ford F-150 Raptoria. Luokkaa johtaa kokenut Ranskan Christian Lavieille reilun tunnin erolla Japanin Akira Miuraan. Lavieille löytyy kokonaistuloksissa sijalta 24. reilut viisi tuntia kärkeä perässä.

UTV -luokassa, kolmen Yamaha -kuljettajan tippuessa pois, ovat juhlineet Polarikset.

Kuorma-auto luokassa on vain kolme keskeytystä. Mutta muutamia yllätyksiä on tullut. Pascal de Baar ajaa Mammoeth-Renaultilla varmasti elämänsä parasta Dakaria. Hänhän joutui aluksi olemaan tallin ykköstähden Martin van den Brinkin takana, mutta kun Brink jäi etapille Pascal sai luvan ajaa täysillä. Martin van den Brink on sinänsä kisassa mukana, tosin toiseksi viimeisenä. Nimittäin Rellun moottorin käyntiongelmien ja sitten sammumisen syy selvisi, kun huolto-auto tuli pätkälle mekaanikkojen kanssa. Moottorin suuttimet, yksi suutin oli peräti kokonaan poikki. Brink sai ek:lla auton korjaamisesta maksimiajan ja päälle 6 tuntia aikasakkoa, mutta jatkaa sitkeästi kisassa. Iveco teamin van Genugten vietti eilen aikaa mutaspoorissa ja sijoitus tippui kauas kärjestä 23. Kokonaistuloksissa MAZ -kuljettajilla ja Tatra -kuljettajilla näkyvät tehdyt isot suunnistusvirheet. MAZ lähti kolmella autolla kisaan ja kakkoskuski Vasilevskin 11. sija ei varmasti tyydytä. Samaa voisi sanoa Martin Kolomyn ja Ales Lopraisin ajamisesta Tatralla. Kärki on karannut jo kauas. Tosin molemissa Tatroissa on ollut samaa ongelmaa eli ohjaustehostimen pumppu pettää. Martin Kolomylla oli samaa vikaa jo viime vuonna, joten ongelma ei ole uusi. Kilpailun vanhin osanottaja Japanin Yoshimasa Sugawara tuo Hinoa sijalla 32. Aikamoinen suoritus 76 -vuotiaalta. Master-Kamaz teamin esitys on tähän asti ollut erittäin vahva, kaikki neljä autoa 10. parhaan joukossa. Kuorma-autoissa on myös vakioluokka.
